Holidays to Enna, Sicily |
Enna is found in the centre of Sicily situated on a high ridge. It is lovely to stroll around the medieval streets of Enna. At Easter there is a colourful festival and traditional celebrations. During June and July the Castello di Lombardia hosts a series of nightly plays and performances all with a medieval theme.
If
you go south from Enna, you can visit the famous Roman villa at Casale close
to Piazza Armerina. The ruin of the villa holds beautifully preserved mosaics
including one of Roman women wearing the first known bikinis. The villa
is listed with UNESCO World Heritage and well worth a visit. Guides are
available and speak many languages. The parking is good and there is a bar
and lots of souvenir stalls.
