Milo
is the highest town in this part of the Eastern side of the mountain. It
is situated at an altitude of 700 metres. It is popular with tourists, especially
during the summer because of its pleasant climate and its position close
to skiing resorts and excursions. The origins of the town can be traced
back to the 14th Century.
Milo is famous for its wine production and there is a famous vineyard called Barone di Villagrande which produces excellent wines. The owners speak English and are very welcoming. (It is found at Via Del Bosco 25, Milo (Tel - 095 7082175) - www.villagrande.it
Milo is small and typically Sicilian. There are some very good pizzerias including Quattro Archi (Via F. Crispi, Tel - 0959 555 66) where there is a beautiful outside terrace in the summer and the waiters and waitresses love to try and speak in English.
