Icing
on the cake...
The beautiful Taormina cascades down the hillside with steep and windy back
streets each one oozing in character. The town has been famous for the last
century as a place to see and be seen! The centre of the main shopping street
is scattered with designer shops restaurants, art galleries and antique
shops. It is a favourite holiday destination of the European jet set, in
particular during the film festival in June,
which attracts many Hollywood stars. A true display of what Sicily
has to offer.
From flowers to food...
The town’s villas
are wonderfully decorated with vibrant displays of bougainvillea and other
flowers each alley way opens up a picture postcard view. The many restaurants
offering all the local Sicilian foods
such as pizza, swordfish, tuna and pasta dishes. Of course there are a variety
of Sicilian and Italian wines available
to try too!
One
to remember...
The dominating position of the town gives wonderful views to the sea and
coast of mainland Italy. One of the most memorable places to visit is the
Teatro Greco open-air amphitheatre, which hosts spectacular
concerts and operas throughout the summer season. This season sees Diana
Ross, past performances have included Elton John and Simply Red.
A mixed history...
Taormina is steeped in history from the Greeks, Romans, Normans, Arabs and
Medieval times and all can be seen in and around town.
The
Beaches...
Local beaches include Mazzaro, Isola
Bella, Giardini Naxos and Letojanni,
all accessible by bus or car. The weather
in Sicily can be really hot in the summer, during July and August all
of Italy goes on their holidays and will be joining you on the sunny beaches.

Take the tour...

up to Mount Etna and to all other major
