Scuba Diving / Snorkelling

There are several diving centres around Sicily mainly found in the main tourists resorts including Protected Marine Reserves and the wonderful environments around the string of vulcanic Aeolian Islands. Diving boats take divers to sites where they can see different things including ancient Roman and Greek remains, fish and various aquatic life. Beginners can have lessons in shallow waters or more experienced divers can go further a field. Make sure you take any diving certificates with you and check your travel insurance to see if it includes diving if you decide to have a go.

If diving overwhelms you then why not Diving Centre in Giardini Naxostry snorkelling? The sea around Sicily is so bright and clear and is full of interesting sea life. You can take your own snorkel and mask or book through the dive centres.

One of the best Dive Centres is The Naxos Dive Centre based at Giardini Naxos. The team are very friendly and have well equipped modern facilities. Each dive is well planned and you will benefit from the many years experience of the crew. Here are a few of the many dive sites that they can take you too whilst visiting the East of Sicily.

The Blue Grotto (depth 16 m.)

The most beautiful dive of Taormina.
Here you will see many colourful shrimps colourful corals and eela in some of the craggy walls. This is an reasonably easy dive for all levels of experience.

Isola Bella (depth 18 m.)
The Isola Bella dive is a calm and relaxing dive in which you are likely to see octopus, schools of fish and a selection of lovely corals. The water is always clear and the bottom is rocky with many hiding holes for larger fish such as eels.

The Roman Temple (prof. max 26 m.)
More than two tousand years ago a large Roman ship loaded with with white marble columns came to a sticky end in the area of Capo Taormina. The vessel was transporting the columns, which were to be used in the construction of a Temple at Taormina.

Now divers are able to explore this significant archeological site with the aid of the experienced Dive Leaders. This dive is unsuitable for less experienced divers.
