Sicily is a shopper’s dream. Italian fashion is everywhere, even in the smallest of towns. Shops are small and select, there are no big fashion chains like in Great Britain. If you want shoes you go to a shoe shop or a handbag in a handbag shop. This makes shopping exciting. Designer shops are found in Taormina, Palermo, Catania but local towns have some too.
In some towns, like on the outskirts of Giardini Naxos and in Giarre, shoe warehouses can be found that offer good quality Italian shoes at reasonable prices. Make sure that you leave enough space in your suitcase to get them back! If you are looking for ceramics and pottery there are many shops offering a variety of products. Pottery is bright and colourful, often Sicilian lemons are painted onto bowls and plates and hung outside shops.
Wine Tasting
We have focused most of our wine tasting so far on the Eastern
side of Sicily but of course the island is world famous for all its wines.
You can visit the bigger vineyards or just but wine from the roadside. Wine
production is a hot topic amongst the locals and part of the joy of being
in Sicily is trying the wine that they produce and drink themselves.
